COLIN JACKSON FROM SILEBY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LEICESTER

In a case that has shocked the local community of Sileby and the wider Leicestershire area, Colin Jackson, aged 57, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple child sex offences. The sentencing took place at Leicester Crown Court, where Jackson appeared on Thursday, 10 January, to face justice for his disturbing crimes.

Jackson was found guilty on Tuesday, 8 January, of a series of serious offences committed over a span of several years. The court heard that he was responsible for six counts of indecent assault, three counts of indecency with a child, and two counts of sexual assault. In addition to these convictions, Jackson had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children during an earlier hearing.

The offences date back to the period between 2000 and 2008, during which Jackson engaged in a pattern of grooming and manipulating a young girl, who was only 12 years old at the time. The court was informed that Jackson had taken indecent photographs of his young victim and had downloaded thousands of similar images from the internet. These images were stored on hard drives, which were protected by passwords, indicating an attempt to conceal his activities.

Further evidence revealed that Jackson had admitted to downloading indecent pictures of unknown children from the internet between 2004 and 2014. The images ranged from 40 at the most serious level, categorized as Category A, to 50 in Category B, and a staggering 15,412 images in Category C. This extensive collection underscores the severity of his offending behavior.

The judge presiding over the case, Martin Hurst, described the offences as involving grooming and manipulation, highlighting the emotional trauma inflicted upon the victim. The judge emphasized that the impact on the young girl had been tragic, noting the long-lasting emotional scars left by Jackson’s actions.

Judge Hurst also criticized Jackson for choosing to fight the case by going to trial, despite knowing that the victim was truthful in her account. He stated that Jackson’s conduct was deeply shameful and that he should be ashamed of his behaviour. As part of his sentence, Jackson was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison.

Following his release, Jackson will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He is also required to report any future addresses to the police, and his details will be included on the sex offenders’ register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and location. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and the serious consequences faced by those who exploit and harm them.
