COLIN CLENNELL'S SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN PORTLAND AND WEYMOUTH REVEALED

A married man and father of four, Colin Clennell, has been sentenced to prison following a disturbing incident involving a teenage girl, which was uncovered through footage found on his mobile device. The case was heard at Dorchester Crown Court, where Clennell, aged 33, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by penetration. The court heard that the incident took place in September of the previous year, and the evidence came to light during a police search of Clennell’s residence in Courtlands, Portland.

During the police investigation, Clennell was initially detained and questioned on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs with intent to supply. However, no further action was taken regarding those allegations. Instead, law enforcement seized his mobile phone for forensic examination. The contents of the device revealed a series of troubling images and videos, including over 260 photographs of a semi-naked woman who appeared to be asleep. Among these, some images and a video clip showed Clennell engaging in sexual contact with the sleeping woman.

The victim was identified as a 19-year-old woman who was not related to Clennell by marriage or otherwise. Prosecutor Rachel Robertson explained that the young woman was unaware that she had been photographed or filmed in such a manner and had not given her consent to any sexual activity. When she viewed the footage and images later, she was reportedly shocked and distressed. Miss Robertson emphasized that the woman felt sick and firmly denied any consensual involvement in the acts depicted.

Clennell’s criminal record was also discussed during the hearing. He had accumulated 14 previous convictions across 25 offences, none of which were related to sexual crimes. The defense, represented by Robert Grey, acknowledged that both Clennell and the victim had been under the influence of drugs on the night of the incident. Grey expressed remorse on behalf of Clennell, stating that he was very ashamed of his actions and felt genuine regret for the harm caused to the victim.

Judge Roger Jarvis addressed Clennell directly, condemning his behavior and highlighting the shock it would cause the public. He described the treatment of the young woman as “appalling” and emphasized the humiliation and emotional trauma she must have endured. The judge remarked that such conduct was shocking and unacceptable, and that Clennell had let down both himself and his family.

In addition to the 22-month prison sentence, Judge Jarvis ordered Clennell to be placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years. The case serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences of such violations, and the court’s decision underscores the importance of accountability and justice in cases involving sexual misconduct.
