CLIVE NUTTALL AND HIS HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSE IN ROTHERHAM
A pensioner from Rotherham, Clive Nuttall, has been convicted of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of young children, including the rape of a child under the age of 13.The justice system has handed down a substantial sentence, with Nuttall, 79, from Catcliffe near Sheffield, receiving nine years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offenses.
The serious nature of Nuttall’s crimes only came to light after two of his victims courageously came forward to police with their disturbing experiences.
One victim, whose identity must remain protected for legal reasons, disclosed that he was sexually abused by Nuttall during his childhood.
As detectives delved deeper into the case, a second individual also stepped forward, revealing that Nuttall had committed numerous sexual offenses against her when she was a young girl.
Simone Stacey, an investigating officer from South Yorkshire Police’s Rotherham Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team, expressed her admiration for the victims’ bravery in speaking out.
She stated, “Nuttall’s victims have shown tremendous courage and strength of character coming forward and reporting the awful abuse they suffered as children.” Stacey acknowledged the gravity of the crimes, noting that while Nuttall’s guilty plea and potential life imprisonment mark significant justice, they cannot undo the profound harm inflicted upon the victims.
“While Nuttall did plead guilty to his crimes, and there is a chance he may spend the rest of his life in prison, this news will do little to erase the harm he caused to two vulnerable children with his sick sexual offending,” she said.
“Their childhoods were taken from them, and their lives forever changed by his abuse.
I am so grateful to the victims for the resilience and dignity they have shown throughout our inquiry and hope that now Nuttall is behind bars they are able to take a step forward in their journey of recovery.” The court heard that Nuttall, formerly residing on Church Lane in Catcliffe, admitted to a total of 13 sexual offenses.
These included one count of raping a child under 13, five counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of assault by penetration against a child under 13, two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13.
On Thursday, November 17, Nuttall was sentenced at Doncaster Crown Court to nine years in prison.
In addition to his prison term, he was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent any future offending and protect potential victims from similar harm.
