January 2017 Church treasurer sexually touched 11-year-old girl as she lay in bed A church treasurer who groped an 11-year-old girl has been jailed for a year. The youngster said Clive Billmore approached her when she was in bed and “touched her downstairs”, over her pyjamas. He then moved to her chest area during the 30-second assault, Bristol Crown Court heard. Billmore, 59, of Brooking Meadow in Nailsea, denied wrongdoing but was convicted of sexual activity with a child aged under 13. Judge William Hart told a highly distressed Billmore: “You are a man with a sexual interest in young girls. “It was far from the most serious sort of touching. “But she has had the experience of being abused.” Billmore was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and barred from working with children and vulnerable adults. Giles Nelson, prosecuting, referred to a statement the victim gave in which she outlined the impact the assault and the frightening experience of the whole process that followed.
