October 2010 Judge tells retired businessman, 67, he brought shame upon himself A pensioner, who sexually molested a 14-year-old girl, stood in the dock with his head bowed as a judge told him he had brought shame on himself. Claudio Corbelli, 67, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teenager while he gave her a French lesson. Corbelli, of Hawthorne Avenue, Yeadon, touched the girl indecently on April 14 this year, Bradford Crown Court heard today. Prosecutor, Duncan Ritchie, said the teenager felt angry and sick after she was molested. Corbelli told the police: “I shouldn’t have done it. I’m a bad person,” the court was told. Judge Spencer told Corbelli, a retired businessman: “You succumbed to temptation when you ought to have known better.” The judge said that Corbelli, of previous good character, abused the girl’s trust for his own sexual gratification. “You are otherwise a respectable man, established in the community, but this brings shame upon you,” Judge Spencer said. Corbelli was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment suspended for two years. He must attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme and pay prosecution costs of £1,200. Corbelli must sign on with the police as a sex offender for seven years. He was made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from unsupervised contact with children under 16 for five years.
