CHUCK WOOD FROME AND POOLE BANNED AFTER SHOCKING NAKED PHOTO INCIDENT AT BRITISH POOLS

In June 2016, a disturbing case of voyeurism involving a young girl at a swimming pool in Poole has led to significant legal repercussions for the offender, Chuck Wood, aged 21, originally from Lower Innox, Frome, Somerset. Wood was found guilty of secretly taking explicit photographs of a 14-year-old girl in a changing room, an act that has sparked widespread concern and resulted in a nationwide ban.

Wood’s actions came to light when he was caught red-handed at Splashdown Pool in Poole, Dorset, after the girl noticed him holding his phone beneath a cubicle partition while she was in the process of changing. Recognizing the suspicious behavior, she promptly alerted her father, which led to police being called to the scene. The authorities responded swiftly, arresting Wood at the pool, and later discovering his phone. However, by that time, the images he had taken had already been deleted, complicating the investigation.

During the subsequent legal proceedings, Wood admitted to a single count of voyeurism at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court in May. The court heard that the incident had left the young victim deeply distressed. Emma Lenanton, prosecuting, explained that the police received a 999 emergency call from a staff member at the pool, reporting that a male individual was taking photographs of a girl under the cubicle while she was changing clothes. When officers arrived, they arrested Wood, and the phone was confiscated. Despite the images being deleted, the emotional impact on the victim was evident.

The young girl described her feelings of shock and vulnerability following the incident. She expressed her fears that images might have been uploaded online and shared without her consent. She also conveyed her discomfort and sense of violation, emphasizing how her privacy had been severely compromised by Wood’s actions.

As a consequence of his conviction, Wood has been subjected to a 12-month community order, which includes a requirement to undergo 25 days of rehabilitation. Additionally, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the next five years. Perhaps most notably, he has been banned from entering any of the approximately 5,000 public swimming pools across Britain, a restriction that will remain in effect for a year. This comprehensive ban aims to prevent any further incidents and protect the safety and privacy of individuals in public swimming facilities across the country.
