CHRISTOPHER WISE CAUGHT IN NEWCASTLE PAEDOPHILE HUNTING STING
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Newcastle community, Christopher Wise, a 42-year-old man from Brigham Avenue, Kenton, found himself behind bars after falling victim to a sting operation conducted by vigilant paedophile hunters.Wise had engaged in online conversations with what he believed were underage girls, specifically targeting two profiles that he thought belonged to 14- and 15-year-old females.
During these chats, he openly discussed the existence of groups such as Dark Justice, revealing his awareness of the efforts made by such organizations to catch predators.
Unbeknownst to Wise, he was communicating with members of these groups, who had created fake profiles to lure individuals like him into traps.
According to court proceedings, Wise expressed a desire to meet the girls in person for sexual activity.
He referred to the girls as being old enough to consent and even sent a provocative image of his genitals to one of the profiles, claiming the girl was a virgin and a horse riding school student.
He also told the other girl that they would experience 'enjoyment and ecstasy' if they met and engaged in sexual intercourse.
Despite being aware that the profiles were underage, Wise continued to pursue the meetings, demonstrating a clear intent to commit sexual acts with minors.
On July 3 of the previous year, Wise traveled to Newcastle Quayside with the intention of meeting the 15-year-old girl.
However, he was confronted by the paedophile hunters before he could carry out his plans.
The hunters had set up the operation to catch individuals attempting to meet minors for sex, and Wise’s arrival was the culmination of their efforts.
During the confrontation, Wise admitted to the police that he was aware of the risks involved, including the possibility of being caught by such groups.
He told officers, “I will admit it all,” acknowledging his guilt.
The court heard that Wise had engaged in two separate grooming conversations with the girls, both of whom he believed were 14 and 15 years old.
The conversations quickly turned sexual, with Wise expressing his desire to meet for full sexual intercourse.
The prosecution highlighted that Wise was fully aware of the underage status of the girls but continued to pursue the meetings despite this knowledge.
During the chats, he discussed the potential for sexual gratification and explicitly expressed his intentions to have sex with the minors.
Judge Tim Gittins, presiding over the case at Newcastle Crown Court, described Wise’s actions as driven by an “unnatural urge to gain sexual gratification” from underage girls.
He emphasized that Wise’s conduct was not only illegal but also deeply troubling, given the premeditated nature of his grooming and his blatant disregard for the law.
Wise’s criminal behavior culminated in his attendance at the designated meeting spot, where he was met with law enforcement and the paedophile hunters.
His arrival was a surprise to him, as he had been led to believe he was meeting the girls, but instead faced arrest.
As a result of his actions, Wise was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact with minors.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and community groups to protect children from online predators and the importance of vigilance in combating such heinous crimes.
