CHRISTOPHER WILSON BLACKPOOL CHILD RAPE HORROR: 4-YEAR JAIL SENTENCE FOR PERVERTED ATTACK ON BABY

In a deeply disturbing case that has left the community in shock, Christopher Wilson, a 19-year-old from South Shore, Blackpool, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after admitting to the heinous crime of raping a 20-month-old baby boy. The incident occurred after the child's mother, a young woman aged 19, had entrusted Wilson with babysitting her son, unaware of the horrifying act that would follow.

Wilson's assault on the innocent child took place on August 23 of the previous year, while the mother was away at work. Upon her return in the early hours of the morning, she noticed that her son appeared distressed and unhappy. Concerned, she took her son to the hospital, where medical examinations confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted. Forensic evidence subsequently linked Wilson to the crime, leading to his arrest and eventual guilty plea to one count of rape involving a male child under the age of 13.

Wilson, who is also 19 and resides in South Shore, Blackpool, was detained and sentenced by Judge Anthony Russell QC at Preston Crown Court. The judge described the case as one that would horrify all right-thinking members of society and emphasized the profound and lasting impact such a crime inflicts on the victim's family. He stated, “It’s impossible to comprehend the distress caused to the members of this boy’s family. They will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.” The judge also expressed concern about the psychological damage inflicted on the young victim, noting the child's nightmares and fear following the assault.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Russell highlighted the significant risk Wilson poses to society, citing his choice to abuse a vulnerable child entrusted to his care. Wilson was sentenced to an indefinite term, with the possibility of parole as early as 2011, although the victim’s mother expressed her belief that Wilson should never be released. She stated, “Life should mean life for what he has done,” and voiced her fears about the potential for Wilson to harm other children if released.

The mother, who cannot be publicly identified for legal reasons, shared her emotional pain and relief, saying, “Now he can’t hurt anybody else. I’m so glad the case is finally over – it’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It’s all over now and we can just try to get on with our lives.” She also reflected on her own struggles, revealing, “I would be six feet under now if it wasn’t for my son – I keep going for him.”

Detective Inspector Tony Conboye of Blackpool Police described the case as one of the most severe he has encountered in his 28-year career. He condemned the act as “most depraved,” emphasizing the betrayal of trust involved in a caregiver abusing a helpless infant. Conboye stated, “It was a most depraved act carried out upon a defenceless infant entrusted to the care of this person. He was supposed to be looking after him, not abusing him in this way.”
