CARLISLE SEX OFFENDER CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS ADMITS BREACHING SOPO
In March 2014, a sex offender from Carlisle, Christopher Williams, was detained in prison after admitting to breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
Williams, aged 52 and residing on Millholme Avenue in Carlisle, appeared at the city's Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence of violating the court order.
The SOPO had been put in place in 2007 following a prior conviction for a sex offence committed five years earlier.
The charge against Williams specifically states that between January 15 and February 12, he 'communicated and associated with a child under 16,' actions that the court order explicitly prohibited.
Following his plea, Williams was remanded in custody pending the preparation of background reports.
He is scheduled to appear again in court for sentencing on March 31.
