KEMPSTON PAEDOPHILE CHRISTOPHER WHIFFIN CAUGHT ONLINE SEEKING CHILD VICTIMS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Kempston, police investigators uncovered the disturbing online activities of 25-year-old Christopher Whiffin. The investigation was initiated after officers from the Metropolitan Police, posing as a concerned parent, engaged with Whiffin in a chatroom where he was actively seeking to exploit and abuse young children.Whiffin, who resides on Spring Road in Kempston, faced serious allegations after his online conversations revealed his intentions to sexually abuse children. The police’s covert operation led to the discovery of his disturbing online behavior, which included discussions about harming children and explicit exchanges involving minors.
Further examination of Whiffin’s computer uncovered a cache of nearly 1,800 indecent images of children, some of which were classified as the most severe category of child pornography. These images spanned from 2009 to September of the previous year. Among these was a particularly extreme picture depicting sexual acts involving either a dead or live animal, highlighting the severity of his offenses.
During the investigation, chat logs revealed that Whiffin had engaged in conversations with a then 13-year-old girl, discussing kissing and expressing regret that she did not live closer, which implied a desire to meet in person. Additionally, he discussed plans to sexually abuse children, including a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old, who were the children of the undercover officer.
Whiffin appeared before Bedford Magistrates’ Court on a Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to 20 charges related to the creation, possession, and distribution of indecent images of children. His admission also included sharing these images with other internet users. Due to the gravity of some of the images, which were classified as the highest level of indecency, the case was deemed extremely serious and was transferred to Luton Crown Court for sentencing scheduled for December 6.
Despite the severity of the charges, Whiffin was granted unconditional bail, allowing him to remain free until his sentencing. The case continues to draw attention to the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predators like Whiffin.
