CHRISTOPHER POWIS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN NOTTINGHAM AND BULWELL
A man named Christopher Powis has been convicted and sentenced for serious sexual offenses committed in Nottingham and the nearby area of Bulwell. The case came to light after a series of disturbing incidents involving two young girls, which ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment.
In March 2023, Powis, who was 65 years old at the time, forcibly assaulted a girl under the age of 13.
The assault occurred in Nottingham, and the young victim was subjected to a traumatic experience at the hands of Powis.
The following day, Powis took an unusual step by contacting the police himself, inquiring whether he should surrender himself for his actions.
This call was made after the child's mother discovered what had happened, prompting immediate police intervention.
Detectives responded swiftly to the incident, launching a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
During the course of their inquiries, a second victim came forward, revealing that Powis had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
This second victim, who was a minor at the time, recounted that the abuse began in 2016 when she was still attending primary school.
She also disclosed that Powis had warned her not to tell anyone about what was happening, a common tactic used by offenders to maintain control and silence victims.
The evidence collected during the investigation painted a disturbing picture of repeated abuse over several years.
Authorities confirmed that Powis had committed these heinous acts in the Nottingham and Bulwell areas, causing significant harm to the victims and their families.
On Monday, 11 March, Powis appeared before Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing.
The court sentenced him to a total of 12 and a half years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Powis was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes strict restrictions to prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, he was permanently added to the Sex Offenders’ Register, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
