CHRISTOPHER PEARCE SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN ROTHERHAM
A 31-year-old man from Rotherham, identified as Christopher Pearce, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of raping a woman while she was unconscious.The incident, which took place in Rotherham, was brought to justice through a detailed trial process that lasted three days at Sheffield Crown Court.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Pearce engaged in a sexual assault against a woman who was asleep at the time.
According to court reports, Pearce forcibly put his hands down her trousers despite her protests and pleas for him to stop.
The victim, who was unaware of the assault at the time, later woke up to find Pearce shining a light directly into her face.
When she regained consciousness, Pearce reportedly made a disturbing comment, asking her, "You were awake for that weren’t you?".
It was at this point that she realized her trousers had been removed and she was experiencing some pain, which confirmed her suspicions of the assault.
The incident took place in the town of Rotherham, with Pearce residing on Crownhill Road, Brinsworth.
Following a thorough investigation, Pearce was charged and subsequently found guilty of both rape and sexual assault.
On Friday, October 20, 2023, Sheffield Crown Court handed down a sentence of 14 years in prison to Pearce, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
Detective Constable Katy Walker, who was involved in the case, expressed her commendation for the victim’s bravery and resilience throughout the legal process.
She emphasized that despite the substantial forensic evidence against Pearce, he refused to admit guilt, which made the trial even more challenging.
Detective Walker also extended gratitude to the victim for her cooperation, which was instrumental in ensuring Pearce was held accountable.
The police representative reaffirmed South Yorkshire Police’s commitment to taking every report of rape seriously.
