CHRISTOPHER PARKER FROM HULL JAILED FOR 20 HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Hull, Christopher Parker, a 66-year-old man with a troubling history, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty of committing 20 heinous child sex offences.The conviction follows a detailed trial where evidence revealed the extent of Parker's disturbing actions against young boys over several decades.
One of the most distressing aspects of the case is that Parker had previously served time for indecent assault against young boys, yet he continued to commit further crimes.
The recent convictions include sexual abuse of one boy over 40 years ago, as well as abuse of another victim during the 1990s.
The jury heard compelling evidence that painted a picture of systematic grooming and exploitation, with some of the offences now classified as rape due to their severity.
Judge Mark Bury addressed the court, emphasizing the long silence maintained by one victim who did not report Parker’s abuse for four decades.
The judge remarked, “because, as so many people who have been abused, he can’t get past it,” highlighting the profound impact of such trauma.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Bury stated, “Now is the time you must pay for it, Mr Parker, because offending like this has a nasty habit of catching up with people, and it’s caught up with you.” The crimes committed by Parker are described as particularly brutal and include acts that occurred when one of the victims was between six and eleven years old.
Some of these offences would now be classified as rape, underscoring their severity.
The court was told that the abuse was so graphic and distressing that it could not be fully published, but one of the victims described some of the acts as “painful.” The judge also noted that Parker subjected one boy to “significant indignity,” reflecting the degrading nature of the abuse.
Throughout the proceedings, Parker sat impassively in the dock at Hull Crown Court, even as his youngest son, Richard, called the jury “f***ing idiots” when they delivered some of the verdicts.
The court heard that Parker, a father of seven children and two step-children, was guilty of “systematic” abuse, which involved careful planning and grooming behaviors.
Despite his criminal history, Parker was described as a good father to his children, and none of the victims were related to him.
His offences included abusing one of the boys both in his lorry and in a flat above a shop.
The court convicted him of three serious sexual offences, including 12 counts of indecency with a child and five indecent assaults.
He was acquitted of three additional charges of indecency on the judge’s direction.
Parker’s criminal record includes a previous 21-month sentence in 1999 for seven indecent assaults against seven boys.
Some of the recent convictions relate to a victim who was known to other complainants from Parker’s time as a community rugby coach.
His family continues to support him, with his barrister, Paul Genney, noting that during the trial, the public gallery was often too full for all of them to attend.
As Parker was led away to the cells, some family members called out words of support, including “I love you granddad” and “I love you dad, we’re right behind you all the way,” reflecting the complex and troubling nature of the case and the family’s loyalty amidst the allegations.
