NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED AFTER VIOLENT KNIFE ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER
A Nottingham mother-of-four described feeling she was going to die during a terrifying attack by her knife-wielding former partner, Christopher McLeavey. The incident occurred after McLeavey arrived at her address following a disagreement about their daughter's ear piercing.
He turned up at her home late at night, after a day arguing with her over their child, and became violent.
The victim recounted how McLeavey struck her in the ribs and pulled out a knife, leading her to believe she might die.
She described her fear stating, “To this day I am not sure why Christopher assaulted me in the way he did.
Not once during our relationship did he subject me to any violence, we were amicable, we still went out together and there were no issues.
The worst part was seeing the glisten of the knife he had in his hands.
I had a genuine belief I was going to die while he was on top of me.” The woman also said she now feels unsafe in her own home and is scared of him.
The attackers' sons, who were present, tried to intervene by punching him to get him off their mother.
Police arrived quickly and arrested McLeavey.
He pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The judge, James Sampson, sentenced him to three years in prison and issued a five-year restraining order.
The court was told McLeavey, who has no previous convictions, was in a dark place and cannot explain his actions, which were described as wholly out of character and highly dangerous.
