BRUTAL HUSBAND JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING WIFE IN FRONT OF CHILDREN
At 35 years old, Christopher Llewellyn Kerrell committed a brutal murder by bludgeoning his wife Hollie Kerrell, aged 28, with a hammer and then strangling her.Following the attack, he sat down, drank tea, and prepared a meal for his children before hauling her body to his mother’s farm to bury it in a shallow grave using a digger.
He was later sentenced at Merthyr Crown Court to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 25 years.
Judge Stephen Morris emphasized the violent nature of the crime, noting that Hollie was a healthy woman much loved by her family, and he highlighted the tragic effect on her three children.
Court evidence revealed that Kerrell was described as 'violent, jealous and possessive' during their relationship, which friends labeled as 'volatile.' The prosecution explained that Kerrell had gone to her house armed with a hammer, killed her within approximately ten minutes, and then attempted to conceal her body by wrapping her in plastic sheets and hiding her clothes and phone.
Kerrell acknowledged his responsibility five days after the murder, and earlier reports showed he had a history of violence towards his wife.
He also took deliberate actions to cover up the crime, including pretending she was missing and hiding evidence.
The severity of his sentence reflects the brutal nature of the act, which was seemingly aimed at eradicating her entirely, with devastating effects on her three children and their ongoing lives.
