CHRISTOPHER JAMIESON FROM KEITH FACES JAIL OVER ONLINE LIES AND HARASSMENT IN MORAY

In a case that has raised serious concerns about online safety and harassment, Christopher Jamieson, a 30-year-old man from Keith, Moray, is facing potential imprisonment after engaging in a troubling attempt to establish contact with a teenage girl through social media. The incident unfolded when Jamieson sent a friend request to a 15-year-old girl he had never met in person, via Facebook. The young girl, alarmed by the unsolicited contact, promptly informed her mother about the message. Her mother responded by declining the friend request and questioning Jamieson about his intentions in reaching out to her daughter.

The situation escalated when, on Friday, April 15, at approximately 7:45 pm, Jamieson responded to the mother’s inquiry by claiming that he knew the teenager well and falsely asserted that she had previously sent him explicit photographs of herself, claiming she was 18 years old. This lie was intended to deceive and manipulate, but it only served to upset and anger the girl’s mother, who then reported the incident to the police authorities.

During police interviews, Jamieson admitted that he had never actually received any explicit photographs from the girl, contradicting his earlier false claims. The court heard that Jamieson’s actions caused unnecessary distress and anxiety, as he had knowingly sent messages that he knew to be false in an attempt to deceive the girl’s family.

Jamieson, who resides at 8a Nelson Terrace in Keith, faced charges of causing annoyance and needless anxiety through his deceptive online behavior. His solicitor, Robert Cruickshank, acknowledged that alcohol consumption had become an issue for Jamieson and stated that his client recognized that his conduct was unacceptable.

In a previous court appearance in January, Jamieson narrowly avoided a prison sentence after he sent threatening text messages to a woman named Angela Russell, expressing violent intentions and making obscene threats against her and her family. The threats were part of a disturbing campaign driven by Jamieson’s infatuation with Ms. Russell. Sheriff Chris Dickson at the time considered imprisoning Jamieson but ultimately ordered him to complete 300 hours of community service by January 2017. As of yesterday, it was revealed that Jamieson had only completed 66 hours of this community service.

His solicitor, Mr. Cruickshank, acknowledged that Jamieson could now face jail time if he fails to meet the required community service hours. Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov deferred sentencing for three months, indicating that if Jamieson manages to complete additional hours of unpaid work, she would consider alternative sentencing options instead of immediate imprisonment.
