CHRISTOPHER HALLAM FROM BUXTON INVOLVED IN DISTURBANCES NEAR HIGH PEAK MP
Christopher Hallam, a resident of Buxton, has gained notoriety for his persistent and aggressive actions targeting public officials and countryside activities. His involvement in these disruptive behaviors has raised serious concerns about safety and harassment in the region.Hallam is known to be a member of the Sheffield Hunt Sabs, an organization often associated with protests against traditional countryside sports such as hunting and shooting. His activism has frequently crossed the line into disruptive and confrontational tactics, which have alarmed both officials and local residents alike.
One of the most notable incidents involving Hallam occurred on September 19, 2023, when Derbyshire police apprehended him along with his mother, Christine. The authorities issued a ban prohibiting both from approaching within 50 meters of Robert Largan, the Conservative Member of Parliament for High Peak, and his staff. The MP publicly stated that the pair had caused him and his team “harassment, alarm and distress on a number of occasions,” underscoring the ongoing nature of their confrontations.
Although the case was eventually dropped in July 2024, Hallam’s attitude remained defiant. In June, he openly boasted on social media about attending a hustings event where MP Largan was present. His presence at the event was disruptive enough to cause the MP to leave the room, effectively denying constituents the opportunity to engage with their elected representative. Hallam also admitted to secretly recording the MP using a GoPro body camera, a move that further exemplifies his intrusive approach.
His behavior has drawn unsettling parallels to the tragic incidents involving political figures such as Jo Cox and Sir David Amess, who were murdered at their constituency surgeries by individuals with obsessive tendencies. Despite having previously run as a candidate for the Green Party, which indicates some awareness of the importance of safety for public officials, Hallam continued to pursue and bother Mr. Largan.
In addition to targeting politicians, Hallam has been involved in disrupting legal countryside activities, including grouse shoots. He has shared photographs of his interventions on social media, often portraying himself as an activist opposing traditional rural practices. His actions also reveal a broader opposition to the Royal Family, as he has posted memes mocking the Prince of Wales over the death of Princess Diana.
Overall, Hallam’s pattern of harassment appears to be driven more by ideological motives than genuine concern for wildlife or rural traditions. His persistent behavior suggests a focus on ideological crusades rather than constructive conservation efforts, raising questions about his true intentions and the impact of his actions on community safety and public discourse.
