CHRISTOPHER EVANS FROM HUDDERSFIELD SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACKS AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN YORKSHIRE
In a harrowing case heard at Leeds Crown Court, Christopher Evans, a 30-year-old man from Huddersfield, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes that included sexual assault, physical abuse, and a terrifying attack on a young child. The court was told that Evans subjected a woman to a campaign of mental and physical torment, which culminated in a brutal rape and a series of violent acts that have left lasting scars on his victims.
According to court proceedings, Evans's assault on the woman involved not only sexual violence but also severe physical abuse.
He forcefully pulled her around by her hair, causing her scalp to become extremely sore.
The victim described how the pain was so intense that she was unable to brush her hair afterward.
Her family noted a stark change in her personality; once an outgoing and cheerful individual, she now appears subdued and withdrawn, suffering from the trauma inflicted upon her.
During the sentencing, Judge Robin Mairs addressed Evans directly, condemning his actions and highlighting the cruelty involved.
The judge recounted Evans calling the woman a 'stupid s***' and 'pathetic,' and remarked that at times, Evans seemed capable of killing her.
In a disturbing incident detailed during the trial, Evans also held a three-month-old child's head underwater multiple times.
The attack was so severe that a finger had to be used to clear water from the child's throat, illustrating the brutality of his assault on the innocent victim.
Evans was found guilty on multiple counts, including two charges of rape, two counts of actual bodily harm, one count of cruelty to a child, and controlling behavior.
The court also noted Evans's criminal history, which dates back to 2013, involving convictions for battery, common assault, criminal damage, and the use of an imitation firearm.
After his release in 2014, he continued to offend, committing further acts of battery and criminal damage, for which he received a suspended sentence.
In light of the severity of his crimes and his past record, Evans was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison.
This sentence comprises 16 years of imprisonment with an additional four-year extended license period.
The judge described Evans as a 'dangerous' offender and ordered that he serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
Furthermore, Evans has been ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities post-release.
