DERBY PERVERT CHRISTOPHER EAVES CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DERBY AND OAKWOOD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Christopher Eaves, a 40-year-old IT worker from Derby, was found to have been involved in the possession and downloading of highly disturbing images depicting child abuse. The investigation revealed that Eaves had conducted an internet search for the phrase “the paedophile’s guide to love and pleasure,” a clear indication of his interest in illicit material.
Further evidence uncovered during the police investigation showed that Eaves had downloaded numerous images of young girls being subjected to sexual abuse.
These images ranged from children as young as two years old to girls as young as six, with some photographs depicting adults engaged in sexual acts with minors.
The offending spanned several years, with the earliest evidence dating back to 2011 and the latest in 2019, although most of the illicit activity occurred before 2015.
Authorities became aware of Eaves’s activities after recognizing that an internet address linked to his then residence on Hartland Drive, Sunny Hill, was involved in downloading child abuse images.
A warrant was issued on October 14, 2019, leading to his arrest.
At the time of his arrest, Eaves was present at his home along with his girlfriend.
Police seized multiple electronic devices during the raid, which later revealed a significant collection of illegal images.
During his police interview, Eaves refused to answer questions, providing no comment.
One of the devices seized contained a total of 35 images classified as Category A, which are considered the most severe, showing children as young as six engaged in sexual acts.
Additionally, there were 47 Category B images, depicting children aged between two and five, and 286 Category C images, which also involved young children, some as young as five.
An alarming discovery was an internet search term saved in his browser history: “the paedophile’s guide to love and pleasure,” indicating premeditated interest in such material.
It was also noted that Eaves had previously been arrested on similar charges in 2013, although no charges were filed at that time.
Despite his previous good character, Eaves’s actions have led to serious legal consequences.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
As part of his sentencing, he received a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period.
Additionally, Eaves is required to complete 35 rehabilitation sessions with the probation service, aimed at addressing his behaviour.
Furthermore, he was handed a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors, and was placed on the sex offender register for a period of seven years.
The court’s decision underscores the severity of his offences and the ongoing risk posed by such behaviour.
In a related development earlier in February 2021, Eaves admitted to possessing vile child abuse images during a court hearing conducted via a video link from his Oakwood residence.
His barrister, Laura Hocknell, successfully requested an adjournment to allow for a pre-sentence report and a probation interview.
Judge Jonathan Bennett granted bail and scheduled the sentencing for March 26, 2021, emphasizing the importance of a thorough assessment before final judgment.
