CHRISTOPHER BRITT FROM ILKESTON PUNCHED AND THREW DOG IN DERBYSHIRE

In a disturbing incident that shocked the local community, Christopher Britt, a resident of Ilkeston, was involved in an act of animal cruelty that drew the attention of Derbyshire police. The events unfolded on March 11, 2016, when authorities responded to reports of a man attacking a dog on Bath Street, Ilkeston. Witnesses described how Britt was seen throwing the Staffordshire bull terrier into the air and then punching her repeatedly, actions that caused significant concern among passersby and animal welfare advocates alike.

Upon arriving at the scene, Derbyshire police officers quickly apprehended Britt. During the arrest, they also seized the dog involved in the incident, which was later rehomed to ensure her safety and well-being. According to police reports, Britt made threats towards the officers while they were attempting to control the situation, further escalating the severity of the incident.

In court proceedings, Britt admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the animal, a charge that reflects the seriousness of his actions. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive language with the intent to instill fear of violence in the officers present. The court's response to his behavior was to impose a fine of £200 and order him to pay £651 in costs. Furthermore, Britt was subjected to a three-year ban on keeping dogs, a restriction that was in effect until 2019.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about animal cruelty and the importance of swift law enforcement action to protect vulnerable animals. The incident was widely reported, including by the Buxton Advertiser and Derbyshire Constabulary's official Facebook page, emphasizing the community's stance against such acts of violence.
