CHRISTIAN GIBSON CAUGHT IN NEWPORT FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE DOWNLOADS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Newport, Christian Gibson was apprehended after police uncovered a cache of illegal and highly disturbing images on his electronic devices.The incident unfolded in October 2020 when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Gibson’s residence, located in the Gaer Vale area of Newport.
During the raid, officers discovered two laptops containing a significant number of indecent images depicting children.
Prosecutor Eugene Egan revealed that the images included both still photographs and moving footage of young girls, some as young as six years old, being subjected to sexual abuse.
The material also featured girls aged between six and 14, highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of the content.
According to Mr.
Egan, the police arrived at Gibson’s home around 8 a.m.
and engaged him in conversation.
Initially, Gibson claimed he did not believe he possessed any illegal images.
However, subsequent forensic examination of the devices revealed incriminating evidence, confirming his involvement in downloading and viewing such material.
Christian Gibson-Faux, aged 28 and residing in Newport, pleaded guilty to three counts of downloading indecent images of children classified under categories A, B, and C.
These offences, which took place in 2019, have been described as extremely serious by the court.
During the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Recorder Greg Bull QC addressed Gibson-Faux directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
“These are very serious offences,” he stated.
“You downloaded obscene images of children as young as six being abused.
What you have to appreciate is that a child is actually being abused and this has devastating consequences for them.” In response to his crimes, Gibson-Faux was sentenced to a three-year community order.
This order requires him to complete the Horizon sex offender rehabilitation programme, aimed at reducing the risk of reoffending.
Additionally, he is mandated to register as a sex offender for the next five years and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect until 2025, restricting his activities and monitoring his conduct to protect the community from further harm.
