CHRISTIAN FLETCHER IN HEATON SENTENCED AFTER AMASSING OVER 200,000 INDECENT CHILD IMAGES IN NEWCASTLE
In May 2021, a man from Heaton, Newcastle, Christian Fletcher, was found to have an 'enormous' collection of more than 200,000 indecent images of children.
Over a span of 16 years, Fletcher downloaded these illegal images by extensively browsing the internet.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that police raided his home in Heaton and discovered that he had 'catalogued' his extensive collection.
The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges of creating indecent images between 2002 and 2018, and one charge of possessing prohibited images.
When police arrived in September 2018, they seized various electronic devices from his residence, which contained 236 of the most serious Category A images, 447 Category B images, and 205,382 Category C images.
Additionally, there were 11,665 prohibited images of children.
Judge Robert Adams sentenced Fletcher to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He also imposed a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and mandated that Fletcher complete a sex offender treatment program.
Fletcher admitted he needed help, and the court noted his guilty pleas during sentencing.
