BURNLEY WOMAN SENTENCED FOR BREAKING INTO EX-BOYFRIEND'S HOME AND WOUNDING BLOOD
A woman named Chelsea Driver, aged 21 at the time, committed a series of violent and criminal acts after a breakup.
She broke into her ex-boyfriend Joshua Barrett's house in Florence Street, Burnley, by throwing a brick through the kitchen window while she was intoxicated.
She then cut herself on the broken glass and used items of clothing, including a pair of jeans and underwear belonging to Jade Hodkinson, to wipe up her blood inside the house.
The court heard that this break-in was provoked by her anger over Facebook messages and feeling slighted.
Driver also had a previous conviction from April 2015 for battery and criminal damage related to her new girlfriend.
She admitted to burglary with intent to cause criminal damage and criminal damage, and was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
She was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, participate in rehabilitation for at least 20 days, and pay £100 in compensation to Jade Hodkinson.
The judge described her actions as a 'disgraceful' act, noting that the incident was carried out while she was drunk, but chose to allow her to remain free due to her prior time served behind bars.
