HULL WOMAN SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT ROBBERY AND ASSAULT ON PENSIONER
Charlotte Newton, aged 25, from Hull, was convicted after a trial by jury of two offences of robbery which took place on October 19.
The Hull Crown Court heard that Newton, driven by greed and a desire for easy money, deliberately visited the home of a pensioner with the intent to rob him, believing that he would be less likely to call the police due to their secret sexual arrangement.
During the incident, Newton put a bread knife "right under" the pensioner's chin and robbed his 69-year-old friend of money in addition to the pensioner.
The court described the pensioner as "relatively frail" and that Newton carried out the assault after she and two masked accomplices, a woman and another man, went to the victim's home shortly after 8.45 pm.
Newton was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to a term in prison.
The judge highlighted her criminal behavior and stated that the act was committed with malicious intent, indicating her dangerousness and potential threat to the community.
