MAN ABUSED WOMAN THEN BLAMED HER INJURIES ON DOG
Charlie Daniel Clowes, a 55-year-old man from Bedale, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of abusing a woman over several years, injuries which included significant bruises and facial trauma.During legal proceedings, he insisted that the injuries were caused by a dog.
Clowes faced charges of intentional strangulation, assault leading to actual bodily harm, and assault by beating, all of which he denied.
Despite this, the jury convicted him at York Crown Court on June 28.
He was given a three-year jail sentence and a restraining order valid for 15 years.
Law enforcement reported that Clowes showed no remorse, denying responsibility throughout the investigation and trial.
At one stage, he argued that a dog was responsible for the injuries and that the woman had fallen while climbing stairs.
