CHARLIE CLARK/JASON TAYLOR SENTENCED IN BIRMINGHAM FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT IN WORCESTER

A man identified as Charlie Clark, also known by the alias Jacob Taylor, has been handed down a prison sentence of nearly three years after admitting to charges of assault and criminal damage. The incident, which took place in Birmingham, culminated in Clark's appearance at Worcester Crown Court on the 13th of January, 2021.

Clark, aged 29 and residing on Finstall Close in Birmingham, was taken into custody on the 16th of November, 2020. The charges against him stemmed from a violent attack on his former partner at her residence in Bromsgrove. The woman, who is in her 40s, was subjected to a brutal assault that involved strangulation and physical beating. Despite her injuries, she managed to escape from the house, prompting a member of the public to alert the police.

Following the investigation, Clark was formally charged on the 17th of November, 2020. His court appearance resulted in a sentence of 33 months in prison. Additionally, a restraining order was issued to prevent him from contacting or approaching the victim again, aiming to safeguard her from further harm.

Detective Constable Claire Masters commented on the case, emphasizing the bravery of the victim. She stated, “The victim, while now safe, initially did not want to involve the police because she was so scared of Clark, fearing further violence and harm should she pursue a complaint. I cannot commend her enough however for making the brave and courageous decision to come forward and speak out. She trusted officers to listen, to take the appropriate action and has thanked us for our support and she truly believes that her decision to speak to us has saved her life.”

Detective Masters also highlighted the challenges faced by victims during the COVID-19 lockdown. She explained, “During lockdown, we are aware it is increasingly harder for victims to escape domestic abuse and violence. Domestic abuse perpetrators are using the restrictions to control, manipulate and instill fear in their victims. Household isolation instructions as a result of coronavirus do not apply if you need to leave your home to escape domestic abuse.”
