MAN JAILED FOR MAKING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND SHARING THEM ONLINE
A 21 year-old man from New Brighton has been jailed after making indecent images of children and sharing them online. On Thursday, November 20, Liverpool Crown Court sentenced Charlie Clark, who resides on Vaughan Road, to two years and four months in prison.
The charges included eight counts of malicious communications specifically, sending offensive, indecent, obscene, or threatening material through a public communications network along with creating an image of a child.
Additionally, he faced charges under section 2 of the UK's Computer Misuse Act 1990 and was found guilty of possessing illegal drugs, including ketamine and MDMA.
Clark was also subjected to a lifelong restraining order against four victims and received a 10-year order aimed at preventing sexual harm.
He is mandated to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
The incident came to light following a report from a victim in September 2023, who revealed that images of her had been uploaded to a website.
The next day, she was informed by a friend that Clark was responsible for posting the images.
When confronted on Instagram, Clark admitted to his involvement.
Further investigations revealed that Clark had accessed the victim's Snapchat account without her permission, downloaded images from her private folders, and later uploaded them online.
He also took publicly available images from her social media profiles, altered some of them, and posted them with derogatory comments about her and other women.
One of the images showed the victim at age 16.
Clark confirmed these actions through direct messages on Instagram.
Although Clark deleted his social media accounts, authorities recovered data from cached sources.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of violating Section 2 of the Computer Misuse Act and producing a pseudo-image of a child.
A search of his residence led to a further arrest on suspicion of controlled substance possession.
Following his arrest, additional victims came forward, contributing to the ongoing investigation.
