CHARLES EDDIE ADCOCK FROM NORWICH SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND FLEEING POLICE

In a significant development in a long-standing criminal case, Charles Eddie Adcock, a 60-year-old man with connections to Norwich, has been convicted of multiple serious sex offences after a prolonged period on the run. The case, which drew considerable attention from law enforcement and the public, culminated in Adcock’s appearance at Norwich Crown Court via a video link from Norwich prison, where he admitted to a series of heinous crimes.

Adcock’s charges included the rape of a young girl and numerous sexual assaults committed against her, with the abuse beginning when she was just seven years old. In addition to these grave allegations, he also confessed to inciting the victim to engage in sexual activities, further compounding the severity of his crimes. The court heard that these offences spanned a period during which the victim was vulnerable and underage, highlighting the disturbing nature of the case.

Beyond the sexual offences, Adcock also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of a child, along with one prohibited image and an extreme pornographic image, all on May 26, 2015. These additional charges underscored the extent of his criminal behavior and his involvement in the possession of illegal material.

During the brief hearing, Richard Paterson represented the prosecution, while Matthew McNiff appeared on behalf of Adcock. The presiding judge, Anthony Bate, decided to adjourn the sentencing until July 30, allowing time for a comprehensive pre-sentence report. The judge emphasized that this report should include a realistic assessment of the danger Adcock might pose to the public, given the gravity of his offences.

In the meantime, Adcock was remanded in custody, remaining behind bars as the legal process continued. It was also revealed that Adcock has links to both Norfolk and Wiltshire, regions where he was known to have resided or frequented. His criminal history and attempts to evade capture were further highlighted by a police appeal issued in September of the previous year, which described him as a man who had been known to sleep rough and frequently alter his appearance to avoid detection.

During the police appeal, authorities disclosed that Adcock also went by the alias Eddie and falsely claimed to be 61 years old, although he was actually 59 at the time. The police emphasized that he had been actively trying to evade law enforcement, making it more challenging to apprehend him. His flight from justice and subsequent capture marked a significant moment in the ongoing effort to bring him to justice for his crimes.
