CEDRIC SMITH FROM MIDDLESBROUGH SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR CHILD ABUSE

In a case that has shocked the local community of Middlesbrough, a 70-year-old man named Cedric Smith has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of child sexual abuse spanning over a quarter of a century.

Smith, who resides on Marton Road in Middlesbrough, faced a jury at Teesside Crown Court where he was found guilty of 14 separate sexual assault charges. Despite his initial denial of the allegations, the evidence presented during the week-long trial proved overwhelming, leading to his conviction.

The court heard that the abuse began in 1960, with Smith targeting four boys and one girl. As each victim grew older, Smith reportedly moved on to new victims, continuing his predatory behavior over a period of 26 years.
