CATALIN-PETRISOR LUCA AND HIS SHOCKING CRIME IN READING
A serious criminal case has culminated in the imprisonment of a man who committed a brutal rape in Reading.Catalin-Petrisor Luca, aged 33, was sentenced to a prison term of six years and 11 months during a court hearing held at Reading Crown Court on the 22nd of May.
The proceedings followed Luca’s guilty plea to a single count of rape, which he entered on February 3rd at the same court.
The incident in question occurred in October of the previous year, when Luca led a woman in her twenties into a secluded alleyway off Garrard Street in Reading.
Once there, he committed the heinous assault, taking advantage of her vulnerable state.
Following the assault, Luca was swiftly arrested on November 3rd, 2022, and subsequently charged with the serious offence.
His arrest marked a key step in the investigation led by Thames Valley Police, who are known for their rigorous approach to tackling sexual offences.
Detective Constable Amy Hennah, who is part of the team investigating the case at Reading police station, expressed her views on the matter.
She emphasized that Luca exploited the victim’s drunkenness and apparent vulnerability, highlighting the predatory nature of his actions.
She stated, "I am pleased that he will now serve a considerable amount of time in prison." Thames Valley Police reaffirmed their commitment to treating rape and sexual assault cases with utmost seriousness.
The police force assured the public that they conduct thorough and vigorous investigations of such offences to ensure justice is served for victims and to deter future crimes of this nature.
