WOLVERHAMPTON RAPIST CARLOS FLETCHER SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR ABUSE AND BLACKMAIL

In a significant case that has sent shockwaves through the Wolverhampton community, Carlos Fletcher has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses. The conviction followed a detailed investigation and a five-day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, where the evidence presented was both compelling and disturbing.

Fletcher, a 23-year-old resident of Junction Road, Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, was accused of heinous acts that included the rape of a woman, attempted rape of a minor, and blackmail involving explicit images. The first victim, a woman who was just 14 years old at the time of the assault in 2017, contacted West Midlands Police in the autumn of 2020. She recounted that Fletcher had repeatedly forced her into sexual activities during their encounters. His coercive tactics escalated when he demanded naked photographs of her, further traumatizing her and adding to the severity of his crimes.

The second victim, approximately 20 years old at the time of the assault, also reached out to authorities after confiding in a close friend. She revealed that Fletcher had also coerced her into sending explicit images and had threatened to distribute those images to others unless she paid him money. Her bravery in speaking out was instrumental in the case.

Law enforcement officials, including digital forensics experts from West Midlands Police, played a vital role in gathering evidence. They successfully retrieved images from Fletcher’s phone and uncovered messages that provided concrete proof of his guilt. This digital evidence was pivotal in securing a conviction on all charges.

Fletcher faced multiple allegations, including rape, attempted rape of a minor, sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, and blackmail. Despite denying all charges initially, the weight of the evidence led to his conviction.

Following the trial, Fletcher was sentenced on June 1 to 12 years in prison.
