CARLO DONOFRIO CAUGHT IN CARDIFF: EXPLICIT MESSAGE SCANDAL INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A 42-year-old man from Cardiff, Carlo Donofrio, has been found guilty of attempting to exploit a minor through online communication, but he has avoided imprisonment. The incident involved Donofrio reaching out to a 13-year-old girl via the online marketplace Gumtree, where he offered her money in exchange for explicit photographs.
Court records detailed that Donofrio engaged in a series of messages with the young girl, during which he sent her explicit images of himself.
He also made a disturbing request for her to wear a school uniform, promising to pay her £50 for doing so.
These actions were deemed highly exploitative and predatory by the court.
It was also revealed that Donofrio had a prior conviction for indecent assault dating back to the year 2000, which added weight to the seriousness of his recent conduct.
Despite the gravity of his actions, the court opted for a community-based sentence rather than incarceration.
Judge Morgan described Donofrio’s behavior as exploitative and predatory, emphasizing the harm caused to the young girl.
Instead of prison, the court imposed a 36-month community order that includes participation in a sexual offenders' program, unpaid work, and a sex offender treatment requirement.
These measures aim to monitor and rehabilitate Donofrio while protecting the community from further harm.
