CARL HRECKO SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN BLACKPOOL AND SELBY

A man named Carl Hrecko, aged 39, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving young children. The sentencing took place on 19 May 2025 at York Crown Court, where Hrecko was handed a 25-year prison sentence. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The case against Hrecko was built over a series of investigations culminating in a trial that concluded on 3 February 2025. During the trial, he was found guilty of 14 separate indictments related to sexual assaults committed against children under the age of 10. The allegations spanned a period of time and involved disturbing acts that shocked the community.

The initial incident occurred in June 2023, when Hrecko committed a particularly vicious sexual assault on a young child. The child's family members were the first to be informed of the incident after the child confided in them. Concerned and alarmed, the family contacted the police, prompting an official investigation into the matter. As authorities delved deeper into the case, they uncovered additional allegations of serious sexual misconduct involving children, which pointed to a pattern of predatory behavior by Hrecko.

Following his arrest, Hrecko was charged with multiple counts of sexual offences and was remanded in custody pending trial. Throughout the legal proceedings, Hrecko maintained a defensive stance, with his defense team attempting to dismiss the allegations by claiming that the victims were lying to get him into trouble. Despite these efforts, the jury found him guilty on all counts.

Detective Constable Marcus Furneaux-Harris from North Yorkshire Police commented on the case, saying, “The family involved has endured two long and arduous trials before justice was finally served. Hrecko's defense was solely based on accusations that the victims were fabricating stories, which the jury rejected. Hrecko showed no emotion when the verdict was read.”

He further praised the resilience of the victims and their families, stating, “The dignity and composure displayed by the family during the trial, despite the harrowing details they had to hear, is commendable. I hope that this outcome provides some measure of closure for them and aids in their ongoing recovery. The bravery shown by the children involved was truly inspiring and beyond their years.”
