CARL HIGGINS SENTENCED IN HEREFORD FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
2024: Carl Higgins, a 30-year-old resident of Widemarsh Street in Hereford, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple grave child sex offences.
The court found Higgins guilty of a series of heinous crimes that took place over a span of three years, from 2014 to 2017.
These offences included charges of child rape, three separate sexual assaults, and the act of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, all of which constitute serious violations of both the law and moral boundaries.
Following the conviction, Higgins was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday, September 5, to serve nine and a half years in a high-security prison.
The court also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with minors and prevent any further harm.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued to protect potential victims from any form of contact or harassment from Higgins in the future.
Det Con Fiona Pearson of West Mercia Police commented on the case, stating, 2022: A HEREFORD shop worker left the dock smiling after he avoided jail for sending explicit pictures to a person he thought was a child.
Hereford Crown Court heard that Carl Higgins, 28, had pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Prosecution barrister Siobhan Collins said Higgins had sent indecent pictures to a police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl on instant messaging app Kik.
