CARL CROOK SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN LITTLEHAMPTON AND DEVON

A man named Carl Crook has been handed down a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving a child. The crimes, which occurred over several years, specifically between 2004 and 2008, in the towns of Thame and High Wycombe, have now led to Crook's imprisonment. Crook, aged 45 and residing at Pale Gate Close in Honiton, Devon, was sentenced to a total of seven years behind bars at Oxford Crown Court on a Friday, specifically on December 12.

This case stemmed from a detailed investigation which culminated in a five-day trial. After hearing all the evidence, a jury found Crook guilty of several grave offences committed against a single young victim. The charges confirmed that Crook had sexually assaulted the child under the age of 13 on three separate occasions. Additionally, the jury convicted him on five counts related to engaging in sexual activity with a minor, as well as other serious allegations such as assaulting a child under 13 by penetration and inciting or causing a child to engage in sexual acts.

Furthermore, Crook had already admitted guilt to four counts of producing indecent photographs of a child prior to his trial. These admissions played a role in establishing his criminal conduct and added to the weight of evidence which led to his conviction.

The investigation into Crook's actions was carried out by Thames Valley Police's Paedophile Online Investigation Team, under the guidance of Detective Constable Maria Morrissey. Following the sentencing, Detective Morrissey expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing Crook’s dangerous and predatory nature. She highlighted that the jury was clearly able to see through Crook’s attempts to deceive them, recognizing that he had groomed his victim to exploit her sexually.

Detective Morrissey also took a moment to commend the courage demonstrated by the victim, who bravely provided testimony both to the police and in court, despite the emotional toll such disclosures entail. She praised the diligence of the jury for thoroughly examining the evidence and listening carefully to the detailed accounts of Crook’s depraved crimes. Additionally, she acknowledged the critical role played by officers and staff from Thames Valley Police as well as Devon and Cornwall Police, whose collaborative efforts made Crook’s conviction possible.

This case underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to bring sexual offenders to justice and protect vulnerable children from predatory behaviour.
