CALVIN DA FONTE FROM WALTHAM CHASE SENTENCED FOR GROOMING AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN HAMPSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community, Calvin Da Fonte, a resident of Waltham Chase, was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of serious sexual offenses involving two young girls from the Hampshire area. The crimes, which took place over a period spanning from July 2020 to May 2021, involved grooming, manipulation, and sexual abuse of minors under the age of 16.Da Fonte, who resides on Sandy Hill Close in Waltham Chase, was brought before Portsmouth Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and three counts of creating indecent images of children. The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred when he was 18 years old, and he was 19 at the time of his sentencing.
The court proceedings revealed that the abuse occurred across several locations within Hampshire, specifically in the Whiteley, Warsash, and Waltham Chase areas. The victims, both under 16, were subjected to grooming and exploitation by Da Fonte, who manipulated them for his own gratification. The court heard that Da Fonte was aware of the girls’ ages, which underscores the severity of his actions.
During the hearing, it was disclosed that Da Fonte initially attempted to deny the allegations to police, likely aware of the criminality of his conduct. However, the evidence presented in court led to his guilty plea, and he was subsequently sentenced by His Honour Judge Timothy Mousley QC on April 1.
The case has garnered significant attention in the local community, highlighting the importance of safeguarding minors and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation. Da Fonte’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who abuse their trust and manipulate vulnerable young people for their own illicit purposes.
