POOLE MAN CALUM ANDERSON JAILED FOR OFFENSIVE VIDEOS AND ASSAULT IN POOL
In a recent case heard at Poole Magistrates’ Court, Calum Anderson, a 23-year-old resident of Johnston Road, Poole, was sentenced to a nine-week detention period after being found guilty of sending two highly offensive videos via Facebook.
These videos were described by the court as grossly offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing in nature, prompting serious concern from the judicial authorities.
The incident, which took place on May 12, involved the transmission of these videos to a victim, with the court emphasizing the severity of the offence.
Anderson pleaded guilty to this charge, along with additional allegations of assault by beating and criminal damage, all linked to the same incident date.
During the hearing on Friday, July 21, the court noted that the offence was so grave that only a custodial sentence was deemed appropriate.
The court documents highlighted that Anderson had previously committed a similar offence against the same victim, for which he was given a community order.
However, he failed to comply with the conditions of that order, which contributed to the current sentencing.
Furthermore, the court detailed that on July 19, Anderson was involved in damaging a vehicle window in Poole, with the damage estimated at £650.
The assault also occurred on the same day, adding to the seriousness of his actions.
In addition to the nine-week jail term, Anderson was subjected to an 18-month restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim.
He was also ordered to pay £250 in compensation for the damages caused.
The court’s decision underscores the gravity of the offences and the need to protect victims from such harmful conduct.
