EAST KILBRIDE PERVERT CALUM ADAMS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF NINE-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of East Kilbride, Calum Adams, aged 25, has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to the sexual assault of a young girl and sending her explicit messages. The case came to light after the nine-year-old victim confided in her mother, revealing that Adams had been repeatedly abusing her over a period of time and had been communicating with her through vile text messages.

Adams first met the girl when she was only four years old, a relationship that would later turn into a series of heinous acts. Over the years, he subjected her to multiple sexual assaults, acts that she kept secret out of fear and confusion. It was only when she gathered the courage to tell her mother about the abuse that the horrifying truth was uncovered. The young girl showed her mother the disturbing messages Adams had sent her, which included phrases like, "trust me you would love it," and other sexually explicit content.

Following the revelation, the mother confronted Adams, who then made a series of admissions. He confessed to both the sexual assaults and the sending of inappropriate messages. Adams expressed remorse in a text message, stating, "I hate paedos and now I have become one, I hate myself because of it." He also sent a message saying, "I never meant to do it, I feel sick," and when he realized the police had been contacted, he wrote, "I shouldn’t be alive, I am vile, I am a monster."

Adams was charged with sexually assaulting the girl between August and October of the previous year. During the court proceedings at Hamilton Sheriff Court, he admitted to the charges and also to intentionally sending messages of a sexual nature to the young girl. The prosecution, led by depute fiscal Michael Macintosh, detailed how Adams initially began texting the girl, asking her to let him touch her, claiming she would enjoy it. These messages, which included phrases like, "trust me you would love it," were shown to her mother, who confronted Adams.

In response to the confrontation, Adams contacted the girl’s mother via text, attempting to downplay his actions. He stated, "I don’t blame you for feeling this way and I will go to therapy," and reiterated his self-loathing by saying, "I hate paedos and now I have become one, I hate myself because of it."

Adams’ family has since disowned him, reflecting the severity of his actions and the community’s outrage. Sheriff Thomas Millar, presiding over the case, ordered Adams to be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of ten years. The court also heard that Adams had no prior criminal record and was considered a low risk of re-offending, although the seriousness of his current offenses warranted a custodial sentence.

During the sentencing, Sheriff Millar acknowledged Adams’ apparent remorse and the impact of his actions. He emphasized that Adams had recognized the gravity of his offenses and the potential consequences. The sheriff also indicated that Adams would begin receiving assistance while in custody, with the hope that he would continue to seek help after his release. The case has left a lasting scar on the victim and her family, and the community continues to grapple with the implications of such a disturbing case.
