LIVERPOOL STUDENT ASSAULTED BY CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS
A female student was lured into nearby bushes and sexually assaulted by Callum Jamieson, a known sex offender. He was observed following her after a night out, then forced himself on her when she attempted to give him her handbag in Vauxhall.
Another student witnessing the incident quickly intervened to help her, preventing an even more tragic outcome.
Jamieson, who resides on Hampstead Road, received an eight-year prison sentence, along with an additional five years on license, and is required to register as a sex offender for life.
The survivor voiced her distress and the lasting impact of the assault, saying, "I try not to think about it but I can't help it, especially when I'm on my own.
I get a lot of flashbacks.
There was just us two there in that horrible, terrifying moment." Detective Inspector Catherine Cox emphasized Jamieson’s concerning past, revealing he had previously molested three young female students in 2015 and remained at large last year despite concerns and a suspended sentence.
CCTV recordings captured him following the student from Lime Street, hiding behind parked cars, likely attempting to avoid being seen.
The courtroom was told that the attack has deeply affected her mental health, self-confidence, and ability to carry on daily activities.
Originally from Everton, Jamieson’s history of sexual offenses made his recent conviction an important step in removing a significant threat from public spaces.
