HEREFORD TEENAGER JAILED FOR FILMING RAPE DURING NIGHT ATTACK
A teenager from Hereford, Callum Davies, has been sentenced to six years in a young offenders’ institution after secretly filming himself committing a rape. The court heard that Davies, 19, recorded himself sexually assaulting the victim, who was asleep at the time, for two hours.
The victim, whose identity is protected by law, was unaware of the attack until police informed her.
The police investigation was triggered when the victim told her father she found naked pictures of herself on Davies’ phone.
Although those images had been deleted, the video footage was recovered by officers.
Prosecutor Simon Phillips stated that Davies was friends with the victim but they were not in a physical relationship.
During the assault, Davies undressed the woman, raped her, and then dressed her again.
The victim provided a statement to the court expressing her trauma, saying she struggles with trust, has lost her job, and suffers from nightmares, recurring memories of the assault, and feelings of self-hatred.
The court heard that Davies, who was 17 at the time of the offence, was described as polite, quiet, and shy, but his actions were described as anything but polite by the judge.
Davies pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and two of assault by penetration and was sentenced to six years in a young offenders’ institute, along with being placed on a sexual prevention order.
The Crown Prosecution Service recognized the distress caused to the victim and highlighted the breach of trust and the lasting impact of the crime.
