DUNDEE PLUMBER JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON GIRLFRIEND AND HER FAMILY
An individual named Callum Dallas, a 24-year-old plumber from Dundee, was involved in an incident described as being 'out of control,' during which he assaulted his then-girlfriend by punching her in the face, yanking her lip, and putting her in a chokehold. The attack occurred at her family home in Longforgan on March 3 of this year.
The victim's mother was awoken by her daughter's screams and found her on the floor, bloodied.
Dallas appeared in Perth Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to three charges of assault.
The court heard that Dallas and his partner had an 'on-off' relationship for about a year.
After being out with her and her parents at a local pub, they returned home around 1am, with her parents retiring to bed about four hours later.
About an hour after this, Dallas became 'angry and upset' during a conversation with his partner.
He then pulled her by the top lip, punched her, and restrained her in a chokehold on the ground.
Her screams woke her mother, who came to see her on the floor with blood on her lip.
Dallas loosened his grip, and the girlfriend called the police.
Her father tried to intervene but was pushed away, suffering a bruised back and enduring an attack on his wife, who was briefly able to pin Dallas to the floor before he escaped.
Dallas' lawyer stated he has limited memory of the incident but shows remorse and has been abstinent from alcohol and cocaine since.
The court judge acknowledged the severity of his actions, emphasizing that such conduct was 'appalling' and 'not rational.' Dallas was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody and was ordered to stay away from his ex-partner and her family for three years through a non-harassment order.
The sheriff advised him to reflect on his behavior, stating, 'You were out of control and that is simply not acceptable.'
