VIOLENT PERTHSHIRE ABUSER TOLD 999: ‘I’VE CHOPPED THE MISSUS ON THE HEAD’
Victim-blaming Grant Hunter was found guilty of a campaign of abuse against his then-girlfriend at their remote cottage.
Hunter admitted to a jury he was a domestic abuser but attempted to blame some of the behaviour on his ex.
He accepted he had shouted, sworn, threatened her with violence during their 10-year relationship, and admitted bombarding her with abusive and menacing phone calls after being charged.
Hunter claimed he struck her across the left side of her head while defending himself from his dog, Scooby, and insisted it was an accident.
The jury took just under two hours to convict him.
He was found guilty of engaging in abusive behaviour from July 2024 to September 2025, including striking her with a metal fire implement causing severe injury and disfigurement, preventing her from leaving the property, and damaging her vehicle.
Hunter has a prior conviction for domestic assault against the same woman from October 2020.
The sheriff deferred sentence for background reports and allowed him to remain on bail, but indicated a jail sentence was likely given the severity of the charges.
