CAITLIN HUTCHINSON SENTENCED IN SUNDERLAND FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG BOY

A young woman from Sunderland, Caitlin Hutchinson, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of grooming and sexually assaulting a teenage boy over a period of several months. The incident, which took place in Sunderland, involved Hutchinson sending the victim explicit text messages and coercing him into performing sexual acts on her, causing significant emotional and psychological trauma.

According to Durham Police, Hutchinson initially denied the allegations, claiming that the boy had forced himself on her. However, evidence and the victim’s testimony proved otherwise. The boy, who was in his early teens at the time, described the ordeal as “hell” and expressed deep feelings of betrayal and loss. He shared that the experience has profoundly affected his mental health, leaving him feeling unsafe around women, and suffering from sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression.

The young victim openly stated, “I feel like I will never get over what she has done to me, that I am damaged, and that I will never be fully happy. I just want a normal life and I don’t think it will ever be normal again.” His courage in coming forward and speaking out in court was commended by authorities, who highlighted his bravery in the face of such trauma.

Hutchinson was arrested after the boy confided in his parents about the abuse. She faced multiple charges, including engaging in sexual activity with a minor, communicating sexually with a child, and inciting a young boy to perform sexual acts. During her sentencing at Durham Crown Court, Hutchinson admitted to the offences, acknowledging her guilt.

In addition to her four-year prison sentence, she was ordered to register as a sex offender and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This order prohibits her from contacting children under the age of 16 or using social media platforms without prior police notification. The court also imposed a restraining order to prevent Hutchinson from approaching the victim or other minors.

PC Sophie Farrugia, from South Durham CID, condemned Hutchinson’s actions, stating that she exploited the boy for her own sexual gratification and showed no regard for the lasting emotional damage inflicted. Farrugia praised the victim for his resilience and bravery in reporting the abuse and standing up in court to ensure justice was served, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from such predatory behavior.
