CAIN MORRIS FROM BIRKENHEAD JAILED AFTER PAEDOPHILE HUNTING STING IN LIVERPOOL
In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat of online child exploitation, Cain Morris, a 38-year-old man from Birkenhead, has been sentenced to prison following his involvement in a paedophile sting operation conducted by dedicated online safety teams. The incident unfolded in June 2022, culminating in Morris's appearance at Liverpool Crown Court where he faced charges related to child sexual offences.
According to court proceedings, Morris had been actively engaging in sexually explicit conversations with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
He used the alias ‘Don Provolone’ on an internet application, attempting to conceal his true identity while pursuing illicit communication.
Unbeknownst to him, the individual he was speaking with was an undercover decoy operated by the paedophile hunting organisation known as ‘Safeguarding Children UK’.
During their online exchanges, Morris sent highly explicit messages, clearly indicating his intent to engage in sexual activity with the minor.
One particularly repulsive message read: “You are a 13 year old girl who I want to suck my d***, a 13 year old girl who I want to have sex with a 13 year old girl who I’m willing to break the law to be with, it’s a huge risk I’m taking.” These messages demonstrated Morris’s blatant disregard for the law and the safety of minors.
In August 2018, Morris arranged to meet the girl in person.
However, his plans were thwarted when members of two separate paedophile hunting teams, ‘Safeguarding Children UK’ and ‘C.O.P’ (Catching Online Predators), confronted him before he could carry out the meeting.
The teams questioned Morris about his online activities, exposing his intentions and actions.
Following this confrontation, the teams contacted the police, who promptly arrested Morris.
After his arrest, Morris was taken into custody, where he was interviewed and questioned by law enforcement officials.
He was subsequently released on unconditional bail pending further proceedings.
The case quickly moved to trial, and the jury at Liverpool Crown Court deliberated for only ten minutes before returning a guilty verdict on charges of ‘Attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity’.
Judge’s sentencing reflected the severity of Morris’s actions.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Additionally, a 15-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed, restricting his activities and ensuring ongoing monitoring.
Morris was also informed that he would be required to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to protect the community from potential future harm.
