BYRON ‘BAZ’ TOYNE FROM LOUTH INVOLVED IN DOMESTIC INCIDENT THAT LED TO PET HAMSTER'S DEATH

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Louth, Byron David Toyne, commonly known as Baz Toyne, was involved in a violent domestic altercation that resulted in the tragic death of a pet hamster named Nibbles. Born on December 1, 1984, Toyne, who resides on Keddington Road in Louth with the postal code LN11 0AA, has a criminal history that includes previous convictions for harassment and assault.

During the recent incident, Toyne was found to have caused unnecessary suffering to Nibbles by violently throwing and shaking the small animal. He later pleaded guilty to these charges, claiming that he was unaware the hamster was still in its cage at the time of the assault. This claim was met with skepticism, given the nature of the injuries sustained by Nibbles.

It was reported that Nibbles' owner, who was not prosecuted for delaying veterinary treatment, took the hamster to the vet four days after the incident. The veterinarian diagnosed the hamster with a broken back, which ultimately led to Nibbles being euthanized. The delay in seeking medical attention was noted but did not result in any legal action against the owner.

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Toyne admitted to committing criminal damage on the same day. He caused damage to a bicycle wheel, an art box, a leaning board, and a canvas picture belonging to a woman from Louth. These acts of vandalism further contributed to his legal troubles.

As for his sentencing, Toyne received a community order that mandates 170 hours of unpaid work. The court also imposed total costs and charges amounting to £175. Notably, despite his history and recent offenses, Toyne was not prohibited from owning animals in the future, raising concerns among animal welfare advocates.

The case was reported by the Louth Leader, highlighting the ongoing issues related to domestic violence and animal cruelty in the area.
