'JEKYLL AND HYDE' BISHOP AUCKLAND BUSINESSMAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR
A successful tradesman and self-made businessman with a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ personality, has been jailed for his controlling and bullying treatment of his long-term partner.
Durham Crown Court heard he came across as being “kind and caring” in the workplace, but had a more oppressive personality at home.
He made his ex-partner feel guilty for making plans to see friends and subjected her to threats of violence, including threats to throw her in front of traffic, “put a bullet in her,” and throw acid in her face.
He also tracked her car and refused her hospital treatment for injuries sustained during a dispute.
He was remanded in custody after the relationship ended and she reported the abuse to police.
In court, Bradley admitted to controlling and coercive behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm, and stalking related to his messaging and conduct following their separation.
He was sentenced to 30 months in prison and a ten-year restraining order was issued to prevent contact with his ex-partner.
