A man involved in online sexual communication has been sentenced to prison after sending explicit messages to someone he believed was a minor.
Declan Sains, aged 28, was apprehended following his interactions with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy on the internet, but in reality, he was communicating with an undercover police officer.
During his arrest at his residence in Bishop Auckland, law enforcement officials found additional sexual exchanges with actual minors.
Sains had previously admitted to charges including sexual communication with a minor, producing indecent images of children, and encouraging a young boy to participate in sexual acts.
He received a prison term of over eight years at Teesside Crown Court.
Additionally, he was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was ordered to register as a sex offender.
