STIRLING PENSIONER CAUGHT HANDING OUT LINGERIE TO SCHOOLGIRLS AT LIDL
Brian McNaire, a 71-year-old pensioner from Stirling, was involved in an incident at a Lidl supermarket where he handed out bags containing items such as lingerie, perfume, mirrors, lipstick, keyrings, and a fur coat to school-aged girls. When police detained him, they found him dressed in lingerie and stockings.
During police interviews, McNaire claimed that the items had been bought for his daughter and questioned whether all fathers buy their daughters underwear.
He defended his actions by saying he was "doing a good thing" by giving away the items, despite acknowledging that he had not seen his daughter for about four years and that the clothing was purchased for himself after undergoing prostate cancer treatment four years earlier.
The incident occurred when he approached two teenage girls in the store, inviting them to his van and showing them bags of clothing, including perfume, lingerie, approximately five thongs, boob tape, alcohol pads, revealing dresses, mirrors, lipstick, keyrings, and a fur coat.
One girl reported feeling "completely freaked out" by the contents, describing them as coming from an older man.
The incident was brought to attention by safeguarding staff at the girls’ school, resulting in McNaire’s arrest in April and subsequent court case.
He appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court and admitted to the offence committed on December 19 last year.
The court determined there was no significant sexual intent behind his actions and decided he would not be placed on the sex offenders register.
Instead, he received a 12-month supervision order.
His solicitor emphasized that McNaire did not find sexual satisfaction in his behavior and lacked full awareness of what he was doing, indicating that his actions were concerning but not sexually motivated.
Residing in St Ninians, Stirling, McNaire’s case was classified as a disorderly conduct incident without significant sexual elements.
