IRVINE MAN REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR ASSAULT AND ROBBERY
AN IRVINE thug who assaulted and robbed his ex-partner has been locked up while he awaits his fate.
Brian Leckie, 44, admitted pushing the woman on the body and causing her to strike her head off a cupboard in the violent attack earlier this year.
He then struggled with his victim while trying to prise open her fingers, and eventually robbed her of £40.
The attack happened at an address in School Place, Ardrossan on April 21, and was aggravated because the victim was the partner or former partner of the accused.
Leckie, of East Bowhouse Way, was granted bail after a court appearance on May 18, but Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard last week that he had gone on to breach two special conditions of the bail order – first by entering Ardrossan, and then by attending the address where the original incident happened.
After details of the bail breach were explained to the court, bail was refused and Leckie, who was represented by solicitor Simon Brown, was remanded in custody.
He will be brought back to court for sentencing at a later date.
