CHILD RAPIST ON THE RUN AFTER BEING SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS IN PRISON
A convicted offender of serious sexual crimes, Brian Green, aged 74, remains at large after failing to attend his sentencing. Green was found guilty in his absence of five counts of rape, following a trial held at Leeds Crown Court in March. He was sentenced to a 22-year prison term on Wednesday, May 1, but did not appear for the hearing. West Yorkshire Police's Det Insp Paul Greatorex stated, "Brian Green has been sentenced in his absence to a lengthy jail term, reflecting the very serious non-recent offences he committed against a young and vulnerable child. A warrant is out for his arrest for failure to attend at court and we would ask anyone who has seen him or has information about his whereabouts to contact Kirklees police." The court recognized that the victim was only nine years old when the abuse started, which continued over four years. The prosecution revealed that Green would tell her she was "ugly, or stupid" and that no one loved her, contributing to her severe psychological harm. It was established there were at least 21 rapes over this period, with Green threatening his victim during these crimes in the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire. Defense lawyer Danielle Graham stated Green had no previous convictions, but his absence from court raised concerns. The judge, His Honour Judge Khan KC, described Green's behavior as controlling, humiliating the victim, and engaging in premeditated abuse. The court concluded the sexual offenses were carefully planned, emphasizing the severity of Green's actions and their impact on the victim.
